FNB Stopping Email Statements :(
Dear All,
I received a notification from FNB, in November/December 2019 that they will be stopping email statements to personal accounts. The only way to now get your statements each month is to manually go download them using their App.
I feel this is a step in the wrong direction from a bank that I've aways applauded for their innovation and variety of services. I've also jumped on the email statements bus the first-day FNB started it as apposed to postal statements. I've also activated email statements on ALL my accounts, even the optional ones (saving accounts).
I use my statements as a way to follow up and do my budgeting on transactions months after they have happed, like once every 6 months, and since I receive the statements in my mail, this was not a problem. In cases I've used it to find the first month that my cellphone contract was subtracted, or find inconsistencies in debit orders.
I don't understand why this very basic concept (a bank sending you your statement), has been abandoned. I've also phoned and asked if I can keep on getting my statements via mail as an exception, but the person explained that it is also not possible.
I'm at a point where I feel like, if my bank would drop such an important but basic "bank" function, I would rather go with another bank. What is going to be next?
