FNB stole my foreign currency

I received a refund from a foreign travel agent based in France in Euros. When the money came into my account on 9 March 2017 FNB notified me that the cash was received and that I should log into my internet banking profile and specify what should be done with the forex.

I logged into my profile a day or 2 later to release the payment. I then rejected the payment as I was not happy with the rate that FNB proposed. The app then classified the release as "pending", assuming that an agent would call and discuss it with me. I checked the app everyday waiting for some sort of response but nothoing came through.

On Sunday, 2 April 2017 I received an email from FNB informing me that I have 3 business days to release the funds. Obviously I thought to myself I have until Wednesday 05 April 2017 to release funds. My plan was to open a Global Account and then release the funds into there.

I received an email on Monday 03 April informing me the amount had been converted to ZAR at a rate of R14.76. I got annoyed because there was no consent from my side and according to the email I received from FNB I had 3 business days to release this payment

I phone FNB forex and explained the situation and spoke to 2 individuals by the names of Zama and Bongani Sitela. They both informed me that the time period I had to release the payment had expired as i had not done it within the 25day period in accordance with their policies. I explained that the email specified I had 3 business days remaining, meaning that at the time of the call I had just over 1 day remaining to release the funds. This means that the Euros were converted without my consent, thus basically this is theft.

The query was pushed up (passing the buck) to Gerard Kennedy (who I assume is higher management) who has not called me since. I have now called Forex 3 times begging to speak to Gerard but to no avail. I feel like FNB is trying to frustrate me into letting this go, and I feel that this is unacceptable.
