FNB short term insurance third party claim.

On 21 July 2023, I was involved in an accident in which a FNB short term insurance client drove into my car from the back. The driver of the car that collided with me gave me his insurance details to claim from his insurance. I contacted his insurance and was requested to email a copy of my drivers licence, 2 quotations for the repair of my vehicle, the accident report number from the police, a no claim letter from my insurance and a description of the incident. On 24 July, I submitted all the above to Sarah Mountjoy (FNB Short Term Insurance representative), who sent them to their representative attorney (Neil Govender Attorney) for processing. Since then, I have sent numerous emails to follow up on the claim to Sarah Mountjoy and I receive no feedback from her. Neil Govender Attorney responded to one of my emails and told me the claim process could take up to 60 days to finalise. I have patiently waited and 60 days after the incident, I have not received any feedback from FNB short term insurance or from Neil Govender Attorney. I find this timeframe unreasonably long. The service from FNB short term insurance in unacceptable. I need an urgent resolution to the matter.

Reviewer Update
A day after my last complaint on the timeframe that FNB short term insurance is taking to resolve my third party insurance claim, FNB short term insurance responded saying they were going to contact me within 2 business days with a response. Sure, they did. I received an email from Mr Sibusiso Masumpa apologising for the inconvenience (I have heard this too many times from service providers) and that their representative attorney (Neil Govender) was going to be in touch with me regarding the outcome of the claim. Sure of course, Neil Govender attorneys contacted me. To my greatest dismay, when they contacted me 64 days after the accident and 61 days after submitting the claim and all related documents that they required, they asked me to submit proof of ownership of the vehicle in the form of a license registration document (a NATIS document). I am not sure what role the ownership of the vehicle has to do with the outcome of my claim. However, I did submit the document as requested. Since submitting it, I have been making follow-ups to get a response on the outcome of the claim. Neither FNB short term insurance nor Neil Govender attorneys is responding to my emails.
Again, I am very disgruntled as this is a very despicable attitude from FNB short term insurance. I am now fully convinced that FNB short term insurance does not want to honour its commitment to its client to pay for the damage I have suffered.
I have now decided to seek legal advice on this matter and in the process, also seek advice on whether to go ahead and repair my vehicle whilst waiting on the resolution of this matter. I know this might be a lengthy process which will involve costs, but I am left with no option. Perhaps, if I had taken this route 2 months ago, the matter would have been resolved by now.
In response to this treatment from FNB, I have also decided to close all my four banking accounts with FNB and move them to another bank.
My advice to consumers, if you ever hear the names "FNB" and "short term insurance" in the same sentence, run away as fast as you can. FNB sucks at this service. If you listen to them, you will one day get the shock of your life at a time you least expect.
