FNB Short Term Insurance. Get a professional insurance company, or you will regret it.

When you take out an FNB Home loas, avoid their Short-Term Insurance division AT ALL COST. I have been a happy FNB client for many years, but their Short-Term Insurance division is deplorable in every single way. Have look at how many short-term complaints for FNB get posted! I am surprised that FirstRand does not investigate the reasons why FNB's Short-term division under the leadership of Eduard Lessing receive so many complaints and causing damage to FNB's reputation. They are by far the worst institution, including any municipal or government department I have ever dealt with. When I really needed help, they were hopelessly dysfunctional and utterly unprofessional. They did not respond to my claim for days. I had to phone again and again, every time I was promised a phone call, it just did not happen. Not even the department supervisor, Dennis kept his promise after I complained about poor service to him! He profusely apologised for the poor service and agreed that the lack of response was unacceptable, yet he left me waiting for his phone call or email that never came. Regardless of how I tried to escalate my dissatisfaction, I ended up explain my situation to yet another disinterested employee, that had no idea what to do. Every person I spoke with made it seems like it was their very first day on the job. When they finally attended to my claim, they dispatched a contractor that consulted the assessor about the repair method. The intermediatory company, Kandua, then took another two weeks to submit a report. Almost four weeks have lapsed. FNB Short Term Insurance had no consideration for my situation and had zero sense of urgency. Do not have a false sense of building insurance comfort like I did. Spare yourself the frustration and choose a proper insurance company. Not a bank that run a short-term insurance division from the sideline.
