FNB Short Term Insurance – Appalling Service and Claim Reversal
We trusted FNB Short Term Insurance to protect my property in critical moments, but my recent experience with them has been nothing short of appalling.
After a severe hailstorm on 21 Nov 2024 caused significant damage to my roof, we promptly reported the claim the next day. Here’s what followed:
(1) Poor Communication: We had to chase FNB for updates repeatedly. On 26 Nov 2024, we called to follow up because they had shown no urgency, only to receive an SMS stating that an assessor had been appointed.
(2) Initial Approval, Then Reversal: On 4 Dec 2024, we received an SMS confirming that a contractor had been appointed to repair the damages. The contractor even called us to schedule the work for the week of 9–13 Dec 2024. To our shock, when we called on 10 Dec 2024 to confirm details, we were informed that the claim had been rejected. No explanation was given.
(3) Failure to Provide Clarity: We have requested written reasons for the rejection multiple times. To this day, we have not received any detailed communication.
(4) Ignored Time Sensitivity: Contractors close for the festive season on 13 Dec 2024, leaving our home exposed to further damage until Jan 2025. Despite knowing the urgency, FNB has failed to act.
This situation has caused unnecessary stress and frustration, and FNB’s negligence is unacceptable.
Advice for Others: FNB Short Term Insurance markets itself as a reliable provider, but my experience has proven otherwise. Be prepared for delays, poor communication and a lack of accountability. If you value prompt and transparent service, I strongly suggest considering alternative providers.
