FNB Settlement Discount

After being retrenched this year, I fell behind on my FNB Credit Card. I am finally in a position to attempt to settle the outstanding amount. As the account have been handed over to NuDebt, I have had the great misfortune of trying to negotiate with them (sharks) on a settlmentt discount. After sending a motivation letter, being told that I do qualify for a discount, phoning them and wanting to resolve this, the final outcome has been that the final settlement amount has gone up by a couple of thousand rand!!!!!!!

How is it possible that in these times, when you endeavor to settle a massive outstanding balance and actually try to take ownership for it, you get treated this way?! Time being wasted and being taken advantage of in order to increase a leech of a company's bottom line. I have no idea if Nudebt actually contacted FNB to request a settlement discount. I ask FNB to confirm this?
