FNB ******** and ******* - Bankers Beware

On the 15th of November 2018, I submitted a cancellation request to the FNB Forex team for my Global Accounts. Having spoken to a Forex Consultant shortly after, it was decided to close my USD account only, which was processed rather swiftly. I continued to use my GBP account and card abroad and kept all my money in this account.

On 01 February 2019, my active GBP account was completely emptied with no prior notification or warning. After running up a significant bill in placing calls to your ***** department and forex departments I was informed by Bulelwa Ntumba that he withdrew all the funds as I requested a cancellation on the 12th of November 2018, which was 3 days prior to my initial request and 3 months after the email had actually been sent.

The worst is that the initial request was for the USD account, which had already been closed. Somehow they saw the logic in close an account that was actively being used!

At the time my account was emptied I was at a local restaurant and had to explain to the restaurant owner and Thai police what had happened and why I could not pay for my bill.

Now its Monday and after having inquired multiple times to which account the money has been transferred and when it will reflect, I receive an email from Bulelwa Ntumba simply stating that he will update my shortly. Not only have I lost money due to the exchange rates but I have also been shamed publicly and by the police for my inability to pay the restaurant.

After struggling via email and calls with the FNB Forex team since 01 February 2019 to 04 February 2019, I got my money reversed. Then on 05 February 2014, they deduct 529.08 ZAR out of my Premier Account because they had to manually transfer and fix there mistake? The FNB Forex Department refused to open a Formal Complaint and even the escalations department ********** are of no assistance in the matter.
