FNB ridiculous policies
I have an account with FNB, which i store money in. Because the account was "inactive" for more than a certain amount of time, they locked it down so i can not access my money. Even though the account was "inactive" they still deducted the fee for it every month for almost a year. I phone one of the reps the morning, to ask what i should do, and he advised me that its simple and that i should go the nearest branch and they will be able to assist me. I then do so, but to my surprise, i was told that i will need to go to another bank, because they don't have money to pay me out. I asked them if they can then re-enable the account so i can do the transfer myself, but they need ID and Proof of residence which i did not have on me, only my drivers (which is apparently not good enough). I asked if they can just close the account then, and i was told no because there is still money in it. I find it absolutely ridiculous that an account can be held hostage like that. I will NEVER EVER do business with FNB again. I have never felt the need to complain on HelloPeter or anywhere to be precise, but for this i made the exception.
