FNB Revolving Loan: And Providing No Solution Per Normal
I took out a small revolving loan with FNB a few years ago.
Last year, I deposited more than sufficient funds into the revolving loan to bring the balance fully up to date with the intention of closing it. I then hid the revolving loan icon on my banking app and have not utilized the facility since then.
About 3 weeks ago, I received an sms from FNB advising that I make provision to pay my revolving loan. Naturally, it came as a surprise to me, particularly because I have not used the facility since September of 2024.
In the past 2 weeks, I have chatted to more than enough consultants- and still this issue is not resolved. When I requested that my revolving loan be closed, the first consultant advised that there is a debt of R41 and I would need to pay that first before he can log that the account be closed. When I asked him why there is a R41 debt, since I had fully paid the account last year already, the consultant advised that the account was never closed and that it had accumulated "credit fees."
That very same night after the consultant told me there is a R41 debt on the account, I then just decided to transfer R50 into the revolving loan to pay this "credit fee" debt with the hopes of closing the account. The very next day, another consultant confirmed that the R50 deposited does reflect in the account. The day afterward, the debt jumped to R91.
I have also sent an email to the revolving loans department on 10 February 20215 and to date, there has been no attempt to even bother responding to my mail by FNB.
Ever since the bank updated its mobile banking app, it's been a downhill battle. Having been with FNB as a loyal client for probably more than 10 years at this point, it's no longer viable for me to bank with them anymore and, in fact, I have already started my plans of moving to another bank.
Good bye FNB! And good riddance!
