FNB Review – My Experience

A bank with a customer score of 1.55 – should I even bother writing a review? Clearly, dysfunction is the norm and accountability doesn’t exist. But my case is interesting enough to share, so here goes.

FNB openly flouts the very legislation that regulates it – the FSR Act. Try holding them accountable and you’ll be brushed off in true mafia-style fashion. Take them to court and watch how attorneys bend over backwards to protect them, because for law firms, banking business is gold – they’ll “die for the banks.” What you end up with is a private company behaving just like our dysfunctional, unaccountable government.

Digging into my complaint, I learned more than I ever imagined about how FNB really operates. And here’s the truth:

It’s not the employees’ fault – they’re left untrained and unsupported.

FNB prioritises profits above all else, leaving service and accountability in the gutter.

The result is a system that is one-sided, broken, and run like a cartel.

FNB isn’t just a bank. It’s a mirror of the wider rot we see in both private and public institutions in South Africa: dysfunctional, self-serving, and completely detached from the people they are supposed to serve. If you think you’ll get fairness or justice from them, think again
