FNB remain insecure

Dear Hulisani Madzivhandila

Your response is still NOT ACCEPTABLE (See below) - how can you say I am in control of my card when, should my bag be ****** or the card fell without my noticing or any number of unexpected actions that can happen, in that time before I get to notify the bank ANYONE can tap my card????, ********s know they have a grace period and they ALL know that most limits are R500 - how easy for them to quickly tap a few R499 transactions??

I DO NOT ACCEPT THAT CONTACTLESS IS MY ONLY OPTION! Yes other banks are also offering contactless, but they give a choice to have it active or not - FNB DOES NOT GIVE A CHOICE

Trust you are well.

Thank you for your communication with FNB, I acknowledge receipt of your complaint.

Kindly note that we have escalated the matter to our card division team with a tap function on a card kindly note below:

Remove Contactless: We can't remove contactless we can merely enforce the PIN to be prompted from 0.01 for debit/cheque/fusion cards. Currently all banks are moving to implement contactless capabilities on their cards and FNB is no different. As you transact, we monitor the security on the card to make sure each purchase is safe especially when tapping and have thus been focused on ensuring that you can use contactless in the safest manner. Please be aware that the customer is in control of the card and is not required to hand over the card to the cashier. You can also decide if you want to tap your card or insert it into the device based on what you feel works for you. Kindly note you need to give it between 7-14 days for the function to start operating.

For Debit/Cheque/Fusion cards contactless limits can't be personalized, the terminal limit in the industry is R500.00.

Thank you for raising your concern to the Bank.

Yours sincerely, Hulisani Madzivhandila FNB.
