FNB refuses to release my money; creates stupid bureaucracy & hurts the poor people dependent on me
I joined FNB when posted as a diplomat to South Africa in 2007. I bought a beautiful house in 2009 and switched to a non-resident account when I moved back to Europe. I have had nothing but hassle ever since - especially when late last year I started to rent the house out on AIR BNB. They refuse to release my money - and now I am in the stupid situation of having 17,000 sitting in my account - I desperately need to pay the domestic workers who look after my home, and to provide monthly stipends to a family of orphans who are dependent on me. But for the past 3 months every time I receive money the non-resident team ask me the same questions about where the payments into my bank account come from. Every time they come with the same message "AIR BNB PAY OUT" - every time I send them the only proof that I have (from the website that manages the Air BnB platform). They ask the same questions: they want a lease or contract and I explain that there is no lease, and No there is no property agent). Every time this involves about 10 messages back and forth to the non-resident team and to the same human beings. Eventually they release the money, but this time they have not. I spent 2 full days on the phone (from England) trying to sort this out caught in the same stupid loop of recorded messages (I cannot punch in the numbers because I have no South African ID). When I eventually get a human being they try to transfer me to Non-resident banking and I am put through to a recorded message that is about credit cards. I am absolutely at my wits end. FNB Has had so much of my money through the years - and is causing terrible suffering to the people dependent on me, and wasting everyone's time. Please release my money - and put a note on the account that this will be happening rather than keep on sending the same stupid messages each time I receive a payment!
