FNB refuses device sale, based on poor information and treating us like kids!
My current issue has to do with the way that FNB decides ON BEHALF of the client, their affordability for devices.. Now - I've bought ALL of my device from FNB since they started with the Connect store, how many years ago, and the reason I go with them is purely because of their terms and and their interest calculations, instead of going through Incredible Connection or another credit provider or re-seller..
Since I earn from THREE different setups - a montly retainer for managing someone's social media, a salary as a DIRECTOR of a small new company AND then as a Teacher, both privately and as an H.O.D. for a school...So needless to say, I don't make a ton of money,BUT based on those three separate 'incomes' I can afford the device that I NEED in order to do my work,as a musician (I produce and mix as well for artists and I need something hi-spec)
So the issue I have is that FNB now comes back with a RIDICULOUS amount of what they believe I can afford..NOW - my social media client pays me a total of R1400 per month to deal with his accounts and that amount will cover the device I need through the FNB connect store, but FNB doesn't really care about that OR that I can actually afford the monthly installments on the device, because it is handled very impersonally.
The reason I'm going for a new device nearly 3+ years after my last device from them, is because dropping R25K once off would be irrisponsable, but paying the monthly fee they're asking is affordable and doable.
It seems that FNB is looking out for themselves, not the client, as I'm stating YET again:
1) I can afford the monthly amount WITHOUT missing payments or not meeting my other credit agreement payments 2) I need the new device quite urgently and it's not just an impulse buy for the sake of buying...
Shame on you FNB - a solid client, with my personal banking, my wifes banking and ur business baking here, you still treat us like kids that don't know what they're doing and deciding what you think is best for us.
With COVID doing it's thing, the moment I lose connectivity, I'm *****ed! I need the new device and you basically say I qualify for less than half of what the device costs, even though I have that monthly fee covered outside of my normal income and expenses. By denying me the device, it might actually make it, worst scenario however, that I will lose a big portion of my income, as I will need the device to do my work.
Nice FNB..Very nice...
