FNB Private Clients - Incompetence at the highest level

Since April I have been receiving some emails that I needed to submit some FICA documents. I had to submit, They required a proof of residence, declaration of funds, Payslip, Proof of Residence, and ID. None of the documents stated that they needed to be certified.

First I had sent them all the documents. But my ID had expired in September last year (Since I am a refugee it has a validity of the extension given), when after renewing my stay in Jan this year, I couldn't get the ID directly it can sometimes take up to a year to get issued. Because that home affairs has to deal with a huge back log. Yet that home affairs hasn't opened since lockdown.

I supp**** them with that Expired ID, a Travel document with the same validity, current drivers license and the Valid refugee status permit (The one I extended in january).

First they complained that since the address in the declaration and the payslip is not the same as the one their DB records. I had to supp**** a certified proof of address. I had to go queue at the police station when Covid was peaking just to get them a certified address. To this date the address that show up in my bank statement is still the old one,

Then they keep bugging me, sending me messages that they will freeze my account. One day they asked me to certify the ID. I want to the police again and certified my valid refugee certificate and that ID "expired one".

The still nagging me threatening to freeze my account.

First of all your legal department should get educated that the date on the ID is just the indicative of the renewal date of the certificate. I still buy register cars with an expire ID, the most important document is the certificate of the Formal Refugee Recognition that is what certifies that your stay has been extended or not.

So I am decided that they can freeze if they want, only came to this bank because they were leading innovation back then, All banks are at the same pace, I am going to start moving my stuff to ABSA, since I already have a business account with them (Something that FNB never allowed me as a refugee).
