FNB Private Client service is a living nightmare and a lie for what you pay
Dear FNB Customer Service,
I am writing to formally dispute a recent transaction on my FNB account. On 14 July, I transferred funds from my cheque account to my linked Savings Pocket, with the intention of setting aside funds for personal use. However, I was surprised to see that this amount was unilaterally redirected by FNB toward my credit card account—despite the fact that I had already made a formal arrangement with the bank to settle my credit card instalment at month-end.
To my knowledge, I did not provide any written consent or authorisation for this transfer in accordance with the National Credit Act, specifically section 124, which requires: • My prior written consent for debiting any linked account, • Disclosure of the specific debt amount, date, and account to be used, • Clear notice before the debit is made.
If such consent exists, please provide a copy of the document or agreement in which I authorised this kind of set-off. If not, I respectfully request: 1. A reversal of the debit, and 2. Written confirmation that no further transfers will be made from my savings or cheque accounts without my explicit, case-specific approval.
Please treat this matter as urgent and confirm receipt. If unresolved within 2 business days, I will escalate this complaint to the Ombudsman for Banking Services, as I believe my rights under the NCA and the Code of Banking Practice have been infringed.
Kind regards, Maxine Davy
