FNB - Please Treat Clients Fairly
A few years ago FNB (For clarity purposes: First National Bank) offerred me a cheque account. They approached me, I was pleasantly told that I also qualify for an overdraft. Thank You.
Approximately 3 months ago I received a phone call from FNB explaining that I will receive benefits should I pay my bond account via the said bank account here above. I agreed and changed it from my existing bank to FNB and now pay my bond via my FNB Cheque account.
Earlier this week, Tuesday 14 November 2017, I received an SMS from FNB requesting me to pay my Salary into the FNB cheque account by the 17th November 2017. Today, I may add is the 16th November 2017. I am not a salaried worker so paying my salary into this account will be a little challenge... I have never been a salaried worker when the account was opened and during this bank account lifetime.
I transferred my bond amount, I also pay a few hundred Rand more than the minimum bond amount due each month, to my FNB cheque account for payment.
Please keep in mind that I have my full overdraft amount available to me.
Due to bank Charges, which I have no problem with, accumulated to R43,08 since the 11th November 2017. Yes... R43,08 pushed me into my overdraft for the last 5 days.
Blow me over... This morning I received an email from FNB headlined: LETTER OF DEMAND They demanding that I repay the R43,08 overdraft immediately... I can just imagine what legal action awaits me if I used my full overdraft of R22,000. The sheriff would possibly have written up my assets by now! I never received any notification of having my income or a minimum amount paid into my bank account to keep the overdraft. There is also a very descriptive word for this, *********.
