FNB + PayPal = Trouble
Well, ****. Why am I not surprised?
I recently had to create a PayPal account to receive money from abroad. Unfortunately FNB, with their hellishly high bank charges, are the only South African bank linked with PayPal. I do thank my lucky stars that it isn't ABSA, though.
I previously had FNB accounts which I stopped using because of FNB's less than praiseworthy service and high bank charges. So, this unfortunate turn of events sent me scurrying back to open a savings account, bearing the exorbitant of R60 odd per month.
FFWD to setting up my PayPal profile. The banking web interface is in one word dreadful and a sight for sore eyes for data that was incorrectly captured at the time of opening the account which, incidentally, the webpage throws a tantrum about when proceeding to the third step of setting up your PayPal.
So here is the problem: FNB is apparently, in spite of the money they charge me to sit on virtual money, unable to pick up a phone and answer a support query. Why is it that a simple query can't be answered in a business day? Do they even know what they are doing, or were they first sent into training on the notorious Error 8062 (yeah, I'm not the first to get it according to my research.)
Sies, FNB. Sies.
