FNB PayPal Saga continues :-(

FNB clearly states on their website that the process to withdraw PayPal funds in South Africa starts with these two steps: How do I use PayPal with FNB? 1.Create and verify your PayPal account. Go to www.paypal.com/za. Select 'Sign Up' Select PayPal Account. ... 2.Register for your free FNB Online Banking Profile. Register for your FREE FNB Online Banking profile (you do not need an FNB bank account) by selecting 'Register' on the home page.

So, our NPO went through these steps only to find out that because we are a registered NPO (i.e. a charity that is always short of money to try and achieve our goals of alleviating animal suffering) we do not qualify for the FREE account they promise. We had to jump through many hoops of fire to discover that because FNB lacks transparency on their process and their dedicated PayPal 'help' is shockingly dismissive and inefficient. The only time they have ever responded to me is due to a Hello Peter review such as this, and then they don't follow up on anything.

So, now they want us to open an FNB business account and pay a monthly fee of more than R80 plus fees every time we want to withdraw donations made into our PayPal account.

Seriously FNB!? We are already operating on a shoestring budget. Overseas supporters have sent us donations as gifts and we have to go through all this expense to retrieve the money which is rightfully ours. Do you not make enough money without having to use misleading advertising make some more from a CHARITY? I'm so disgusted and frustrated right now.

I'm thinking of taking this to the Ombudsman as I really think this lack of transparency, false advertising and exceptionally poor service is just plain wrong.
