FNB PayPal division blocks access to account without warning
I am extremely unsatisfied with FNB's PayPal service. I have been using it weekly since August 2020 to pay my weekly earnings from PayPal into my local bank account. This week they put a hold on my account without ANY warning whatsoever, just an error message that a hard hold was placed on my account. Since I do not have cell phone signal where I live, I emailed their PayPal division right away to find out what the problem was. After not receiving a response for 2 days, I contact them via Facebook and the only response I get there is that I need to phone them or visit a branch as no one can assist me online. This morning I drive into town to phone them and after holding the line for 30 minutes, I am told by the operator that I need to provide my email address for documents to declare my tax status. I immediately filled out the documents and emailed them back this morning and there is still a hard hold on my account?!?! My issues are: 1. Why doesn't FNB notify their customers that they will need to declare their tax and give them a deadline to do so BEFORE putting a hold on the account? 2. Why are emails not being answered? 3. Why are ALL staff across all platforms not trained to deal with these requests and to at least provide information as to why accounts are put on hold and provide the documentation to be filled out? The operator on the PayPal line did not even need to look into my account, when I told her there was a hard hold on my account, she knew I had to fill in these tax forms... So why are all staff not trained to provide this info? I am dependent on this weekly income. I have a weekly food and transport budget for my family and debit orders are deducted from my account every Friday since I earn a weekly income. My family is running out of food and I cannot take my daughter to school as of Friday due to not receiving my income this week. I find this pathetic on every level. FNB knows that they provide the only means for South Africans to access their PayPal funds and therefore to not care that they are inconveniencing them when it comes to the income they are dependent on.
