FNB PASSPORT PROCESS FLAWED
I have been trying without success to book an appointment online via the home affairs website for my passport. Everything on the egov website works well until the point where I need to book the biometrics appointment with my bank - FNB. No matter which branch I select, it comes back advising that there are no available appointments but also will not allow selections past a two week period. So this is where I am stuck. The closest branch for me is FNB Merchant in Sandton. I have contacted them, the receptionist advised they are not able to assist. She provided me with a number for FNB passport/ID division. When calling the number I reached only a recording redirecting me to the egov site to make the booking. Round and round with absolutely no solution in site. I have paid R600 for a maxi passport but just cannot make a booking. Now I must note I have been banking with FNB for more than 15 years but I am certainly reconsidering my options. A colleague has gone online via the egov site just like I did but she banks with Nedbank - with no problems at all she managed to secure her appointment for Tuesday afternoon. Nedbank has the passport process down. I have many people tell me that Nedbanks biometrics process is flawless - from online booking right through to final collection. FNB you need to take notes. I have no solution to my problem at this stage, I have written to home affairs and await a reply but I am certainly considering moving my accounts to a bank that really is interested in “what they can do for me”.
