FNB only cares about the bottom line

During 2014, I purchased a home that was financed by FNB. Great Service. The place that I purchased was a real fix-her-upper, but I was told that I could not finance any of the modifications via my home loan. I had to wait 6 months to apply for an extension to the loan, which would be register against the bond and then could be settled over the lifetime of the bond.In the interim FNB was very generous in it offering of unsecured lending (R 100 000 to be exact)On 9 February I made a call to the Premier Banking Suite and after being redirected did I end up speaking to a sales consultant. All I wanted to do is change my unsecured debt to a secured option and repay the amount over 5 years and not 20 years. I was so surprised to find out that FNB would not grant me this loan and reduce my overdrafts accordingly. And despite being an excellent payer on ITC, I only qualified for R 6500.00 over 5 years! What a disgrace. Surely charging 22% on unsecured lending is more profitable, but I doubt that it benefits the consumer at all. Especially considering that I did not want my other facilities to remain available after obtaining this loan and I have no other accounts
