FNB Online & PayPal Linking`
For over a week now I've been trying to link my PayPal to a newly created FNB Online Profile. I don't bank with FNB, but they're apparently the only bank that offers this feature. How they got to this point with counterintuitive online capabilities (which I will describe below) is a mystery to me.
1. The FICA documentation needs to be sent to a separate e-mail address & cannot be uploaded directly to fnb.co.za. The PDF "guide" on the website nowhere states this & I had to go through the (lengthy) process of speaking to the Call Centre. 2. After my FICA documentation was confirmed, when trying to link my PayPal, an OTP is sent. Somewhere. I am yet to see where exactly. I didn’t receive it via e-mail nor SMS. Perhaps I’m waiting for a carrier ***eon. 3. Two working days later, and the OTP still didn’t arrive. I assume the carrier ***eon got caught by a cat. Nothing in any Spam folder in my e-mail either. To the brim with frustration, I now attempt to register on the cellphone banking app via iOS. It’s possible that this is the only way that I can receive this mythical OTP. But alas, the app asks me to register my phone number, then enter my online profile name. Upon entry of the above, the app resets all entered fields and warns me that my device will be blocked after 3 unsuccessful attempts.
I have no idea what is blocked now. I have reset my Password, Online Profile Name, bashed my head against the wall – all because I work 7 days a week and have little time to call (and hold indefinitely) to speak to a consultant. Nevermind going to a branch to try sort this (I thought the intention of making this process available “completely online” was to avoid the aforementioned completely).
But alas, it is a cruel joke; and that joke seems to be on me.
Too bad it had to go on hellopeter first - if your online system worked 100% and the OTP's weren't sent to "nowhere" in the first place; I'd be a happy customer from day one. (Strongly suggest you update how this works; including the PDF guide - I'm sure others may have been or will find themselves in my position as well. Prevention is always better than cure & all that).
Regardless, thank you for having this sorted on the same business day.
