FNB not so smart device

I app**** last year October for a smart device with FNB (Acer Switch 10e for R199pm x 24months ). Early November I eventually received the device after having endless hassles with the contact center regrading availability of stock and enquiring as to why the website still advertises the device even though they currently do not have stock and await replenishing thereof. Not even after a month of receipt, the device refused to charge.

I then followed the process to have the device collected by a courier and then delivered to Platinum Warranty. I forgot to include the charger. Platinum warranty then redispatched the courier to collect the charger. Since the device was within the replacement window they would assess and REPLACE the device and not repair it.

After numerous followups and phone calls platinum warranty informed me that they await feedback from Acer. In the interim FNB debited me R299 for my R199 device (this hasbeen corrected and the debit order refunded. SOMEHOW the incorrect device was captured initially)

On the 16th of January that I eventually ended calling Acer myself who had confirmed that they had credited the device. I called platinum warranty providing them with all the details (credit reference numbers etc..) They then awaited an ETA from FNB regarding the replacement of my device. Knowing their reputation for providing me with feedback I contacted FNB myself to confirm when the device would be dispatched. I was informed that my query would be escalated and I would receive feedback the very next day.

The 23rd of Jan I received a call from a Mantshade who informed me that she has spoken to management regarding the resolution of my device query and they have confirmed that the device had reached end of life and that my contract would be cancelled (no penalties etc) and that I would be required to REAPPLY for a different device. I refused to accept this as I now have waited nearly 2 months + for my device to be replaced only to be told there is no stock now (once again). YET the device is being displayed on the FNB website under a NEW bundle deal of R259 with a wifi modem ?? I then requested that management call me. I was assured that I would receive a call by close of business. I made a call before close of business to be told that a manager by the name of Marlon would call me. On the 24th I called ONCE again and was informed an email had been sent directly to the so called Marlon to call me before close of business. Today is the 25th and NO response as yet.

Received a call from a Priven Panay today. I have informed him to complete all checks before calling and asking me a million questions of WHO said WHAT? When a call is made and your ID number is requested is there not a complete profile of interactions? Please do not make contact when you do not have all your ducks in a row. As I have informed him I will be expecting feedback tomorrow.

Received a follow up last week that FNB would check with their supplier if another Acer device could be outsourced. I received feedback today from Priven that as per management there are NO Acer devices available and that I would be required to reapply for a different device at a higher price. This is utterly ridiculous and unacceptable. I have utterly had it with FNB and their shoddy service and poor excuses. I will definitely be changing bank. How can I help you???? Please......

Good Day Dayyan007,

Kindly be advised that as per your telephonic conversation today you were advised that you will need to

re- apply for a different device as the device you initially took up was faulty, and your contract was cancelled as there is no stock of the device.

Unfortunately there is nothing else that can be done as this is what Smart devices are saying.

For any further Enquiries you may have kindly contact Smart Devices on *** or email ***
