FNB NOT PAYING CREDIT LIFE INSURANCE FOR LOSS OF INCOME DUE TO COVID19

Hi.

My name is Jason Beharie. ID no. ***. I bank with FNB from 2011 and have a credit card with them. Due to the current Covid19 pandemic I will not be getting a salary this month. I contacted FNB to claim from the Credit Life insurance to assist me. I was told by the consultant on the phone that I am not provisioned for loss of income. How is this so when it was compulsory for all banks to have this cover since August 2017. I was told since I took the card before 2017 it did not cover loss of income. It's not my duty to update the fine prints. I am paying the same fees as everyone else so why exclude me from cover that has become compulsory. All other banks honoured the credit life claims even to existing customers before 2017. So disappointed in FNB. Are they allowed to do this? Please advise. I had to cancel my credit life insurance and reinstated again just to get myself covered for loss of income for the future. The sad part is that they will not be making a claim for me for my current situation.

Thanking you in anticipation

Jason Beharie
