FNB not honouring debit orders on time then charges fees for returned d/o

On 27 February i had R100 0 in the account i received confirmation that my debit orders had run. i didnt realise the vodacom one hadnt for R500 but it was due that day. after 5pm i transfered R1000 into my account and withdrew R2000 at an atm which left me at a zero balance. later that evening i got an sms of a returned debit order. FNB charges me R100 for this. Then again on 01 April i have funds in my account, i receive an sms about a returned debit order and i am charged fees. In my understanding merchants present their debit orders before the actual debit date. i have been fighting with the gym and Vodacom and they have shown that they submitted the magtape on time. so why is FNB not using my funds to pay these debit orders but is so quick to charge fees? 1. FNB used to honour your long standing debit orders now you dont do that. but if you are not honouring our agreement of paying my accounts what is the point of this relationship? this is a primary need and understanding of a cheque account. i queried this and i got a call where we discussed my concerns and the lady i spoke to last week promised a callback and to date i have received no feedback. There is no integrity in not honouring my debit orders when you are telling me i have funds in the account. that is not fair. with transactions i understand the merchant has to bank it, but you- have the debit order instructions before hand, so what is so hard in honouring them? Who do you think is going to pay Vodacom and the gym their charges for returned debit orders? then you expect me to pay you fees as well? that is not fair, its ****************. please tell me if you are unable to do this simple task so i can move my account elsewhere and report you for your dishonourable tactics of cheating customers. I may be another id number on your books but R100 is a lot of money. and God knows how long you have been doing this. which is one of the reasons i downgraded my account to Gold because you market all these greate perks that you do not deliver on. No body wants frills with no substance. i just want you do your part. PLEASE.

Reviewer Update

i received a call from a very unprepared lady whom i have asked to the previous call i have mentioned because she doesnt seem to understand my questions nor my gripe. Instead she just wasted my time and got me worked up even more about this.

i dont understand because its 14:39 right now. only one of my debit orders that are due today have been taken off the account. where are the rest. What are you waiting for. who is responsible? does the merchant not submit the debit order two or three days before the day. which means if i took monies out of the account durring the course of the day then i would be in the same predicament as before? why are these funds not reserved? Where does the merchant's responsibility end and when does FNB start to take ownership in managing my expectations of honouring my debits? Im gobsmacked as to how this is supposed to work? is it on some accounts? because my colleagues and friends also use FNB and their debit orders have come off with the same merchants. i understand i am also responsible for having available funds in my account. but what are you waiting for? the money is there, what are you waiting for? If i am thinking about this the wrong way please enlighten me. with timeframes because once you take the debit orders you update the online system so its not like i have time stamps. but i certainly have documented today's example of what i am asking about.
