FNB not for young black middle class

I have been a client of FNB since early 2000’s, I have stuck by them and in retrospect except paying more in their monthly fees I’ve never received help from them as a bank even after I upgraded to private banking. FNB has never financed my car, home or any other things that I’ve app**** for but other banks specifically Absa has not only approved car finance throughout the years but also home loans and other investments while my own bank gave me their reasons for declining. After so many years I’ve made a grateful decision to move my banking and all of my money and business to Absa who despite my choice of bank have repeatedly showed up for me. I’ve had conversations with other young black middle class people how their experience is and sadly our stories are identical. They are either not for young middle class black people because there’s a perception that we can’t be trusted with big money or their criteria really doesn’t favour black middle class people with their money. Either way I don’t care. Their private bankers are classist and very undermining because they can view your statements they think they know you or refuse to help. My advice would be think carefully and do your homework before joining FNB or taking their offer to private client because although they want to get your money, they certainly will not give you theirs. Never been so happy to leave a bank that has done nothing for me, PeriodT.
