FNB - Negative Balance ****
Once again, I am having the same issues with FNB. Luckily I don't transfer all my funds into this FNB account and I will never ever use their debit card facility again. I monitored my Nov charges closely and had more than enough money to cover all my debit purchases this month.
But once again, FNB delayed when charges went off and now my balance is in the negative despite the fact that my balance was originally debited when I made the purchases and diminished accordingly. I want to make it clear that I was charged immediately for purchases made and money withdrawn and that I had more than enough money in my account to cover these charges.
When the debit charges are added up, they DO NOT exceed the amount that was in my account. So there is no way that my account can have a negative balance, even if FNB or the stores delayed when the payments went off.
However, FNB has messed up again and put me in the negative. I DO NOT have an overdraft facility and should I have no funds in my account, my purchase will be declined.
To be sure, I tested this by attempting to withdraw money when I have no funds in my account and sure enough, my card was declined. I also double-checked via online loan applications and not only do I NOT have a loan or overdraft with FNB, they will not extend one to me currently. So it is not a case of ********** overdrafts or loans taken in my name via the account. Therefore, there is no reason why my account should be end up with a negative balance again.
This is the same issue as last month. It is ridiculous that FNB wants to charge me twice for purchases done via debit card. FNB is a disgrace; I haven't had this issue with any other bank. Thank God I have chosen not to process all my funds through them. The FNB's poor quality service deserves to be covered by the press.
I partly opened this FNB account to allow me to open small charge accounts and build a credit portfolio. Since my business is largely cash, I have no credit history. However, now that my FNB account history is littered with negative balances (thanks to FNB's ineptitude), I doubt I can use this account to open any charge accounts or build a credit portfolio.
Further more, my FNB account will not link to my Paypal account to allow me to withdraw Paypal funds. All is in order Paypal's side (I even contacted them telephonically) but there's a glitch or issue with this FNB account, which means that I cannot complete the process.
I would like to point out that relatives and friends (who opened their FNB accounts before the implementation of the disastrous new FNB App) have never experienced any of these issues. Shocking all round and has really made me lose faith in FNB, their new App and their customer service.
