FNB making false promises to lure clients into paying unnecessary amounts on accounts. No communication and clients must suffer the consequences.

My overdraft was cancelled and my account put on hold due the the fact that my business was shut down because of COVID Restrictions. I was only allowed by law to start working again on 1 October 2021. I contacted my private banker at FNB and asked if they can reinstate my overdraft and make my account active again as Im now generating a steady income as before the 26 March extended shutdown. On 18 January a MR Raiz Rizzq rep**** with the following "Dear MR MARIUS BOSMAN

Kindly note that the overdraft facility has been reinstated back to R20,000.00

Please not the account is currently sitting with and outstanding balance of R5,434.10

Kindly ensure that this is rectified upon which we will uplift the hold on the account."

As you can read, there was absolutely no deadline or time limit for me to pay the R5434.10....

On 18 February 2021 I paid the full amount and once again email MR Rizzq to ask why the hold on my account is still not lifted... his response was as follow Dear Mr Marius Bosman,

Kindly note that the arrangements for the payment to clear the access and the payment towards the Overdraft was at the end of January which you have failed.

As a result a s123 letter has been issued (termination of credit agreement) and we are unable to reinstate the Overdraft again as the arrangement for the R500.00 due the end of January towards the overdraft and the excess to be cleared at the end of January has not been honoured.

With the above said this does leave you liable for the full balance owed on the account. Please note that only repayment arrangements can be set up to repay the debt.

Clearly Mr Razzq failed to communicate the fact that there was a time limit on this arrangement !! My account is now still on hold... and my overdraft has been cancelled !! Since Raizz laid the offer on the table untill I contacted him again on the 18th of February..he did not even make any effort to contact me and inform me that should it not be done by end of January 2021 a Section 123 will be issued and the offer not be valid any more. After a huge struggle to get hold of MR Rizzq he finally answered my phone calls... he admitted that the lack of communication from his side was the issue here, but he recons a simple "SORRY SIR " will be sufficient !! He even offered to pay a portion of the just over R5000 I paid towards the account back to me, but recons that as far as my overdraft and my account being put on hold there is nothing he can do. So I just lost my overdraft facility as well as access to my account because MR Raizz Rizzq failed to do his work properly... and I must just be happy with a SORRY SIR !!!

This RAIZZ RIZQ is a Team leader .. but he cannot even do the work himself..completely incompetant... and now me as the client must suffer beacuse of him..and all he can offer is a SORRY SIR !!

Here is his details:

Rais Razzq | CCB Risk Management | Recoveries 1 First Place Bank City 2nd floor, Simmonds street, JHB | Tel: ***

Good luck in trying to get hold of him... he hardly answers his phone !!
