FNB makes up excuses to cancel discounted banked rates

I am a Private Wealth Banking client and have 2 of my properties with FNB whereby I enjoyed the discounted bank rate (where you get .25% discount) as my debit orders goes off my bank account.

On 24 Aug 2026 I got a vague SMS stating that I no longer qualify for the banked rate discount. No further information. I checked my banking app today and found that 2 of my properties on the banked rate discount has now increased in the premium. There is no need for my to any longer keep the FNB Private Wealth account as the discounted banked rate was the only reason why I was prepared to pay R600 pm for the account.

I will start moving my bonds away from FNB and is reviewing moving my debit orders and closing the account.
