FNB makes 5 attempts a day to deduct a fee while I was disputing with UBER and then charges a fee per attempt.
I have been a dispute with uber about a bill they increased by over R300. This bill was for an under in Hong Kong during the protests on September 1st. There was sufficient money in my FNB account until they falsey added extra costs. However, this is not the most ******** thing that was done during this time.
FNB has been trying to deduct this ludicrous amount 5 times a day since September 2nd and has now successfully depleted my account and are continuing to try and deduct it while charging me a fee for every attempt. If there was not enough money in the account one hour ago why the "hell" FNB think there will be money in the account an hour later? In order to justify continuously charging me a fee per failed attempt?
I am very upset that my own bank would carelessly destroy their own customers account by making so many attempts per day while also charging a fee per attempt. This could be construed as a **** on FNB's behalf.
Seriously appalled!!

Yesterday, they told me that the UBER payment was a "debit order" and that is why they can do nothing but make continuous attempts to charge me and a fee will come off. When I asked what they meant by "debit order"? They disconnected me 1 minute after my last message stating they "havent heard from me in a while" lol.
I chose FNB for my banking because they were the best. I had no idea they were the new NEDBANK of SOUTH AFRICA. Moreover, no one has messaged me yet about the problem. My email address that is connected to my bank account is on record and not the email used for hellopeter. I also left the email address as my reference but I still haven't received any response.
I would like a refund for all those failed attempts to debit the payment.

I have finally found a consultant competent enough to explain to me exactly what is going on. Firstly, the UBER trip that is dated for September 1st is the only trip I have taken with uber outside of South Africa before and after that date. FNB has reserved an amount of R541.27 cents for uber not taking into account that uber makes debit payment requests based on the actual exchange rate at the time it requests the funds from FNB. FNB declines that spot amount and have declined it almost 2 dozen times and the amounts of course vary. Now there was one only trip. FNB has profited R8:50 every time it has declined an amount while UBER has no idea that a fixed amount has been reserved. However, I as an FNB customer have been suffering loses due to fees because FNB refused to block uber's attempts to deduct random amounts based on spot exchange rates for a trip dated 1st September, neither have they made any attempt to notify uber of their debit reserve policy.
This is resulting in a nasty cycle of debit requests from uber and declines from FNB while FNB profits off it and makes no attempt to remedy the situation.
I will be taking this matter to the ombudsman. FNB can contact me on +*** if they have any motivation to resolve this mess

Uber received its money but the initial reserved amount has still not been returned to my account.
