FNB Loan Disaster

7 Years ago, I app**** for a student loan threw FNB, they stated that I would be required to get provide surety on the contact as it is normal practise on a student loan despite me working full time. I place my mother as surety in order to ensure I could obtain the loan needed. Once I had finished my 1st year it became clear that I would not be able to afford the financial burden of studying full time and incurring additional loans required to complete the full BCom Law course.

I began paying the loan as per the payment instalments required this continued for many months while I climbed the corporate ladder. 1 year down and I had found myself in a bit of a difficult situation unemployed and in search of a job. During this period, I was unable to pay the instalments required and notified the bank therein. In that period, the FNB decided to collect the funds from the surety provided. After 3 months, I was then employed and continued to pay the instalments required however FNB continued to seek funds from the surety. I then proceeded to go under debt review in order to resolve my financial instability, at this point FNB continued to request funds from myself and surety.

On multiple occasions, we have requested the contract be supp**** and details around the loan as they continue to confuse the account details and have yet to provide requested information. The debt collector working on the account on behalf of FNB continues to harass me in and not provide relevant feedback requested to date. I have since acquired the services of an attorney to assist in finalizing the matter as 3 years of torture must now come to an end. I receive approximately 6 -10 phone calls a day from different debt collectors requesting different information and when I provide my date of birth for verification purposes they end the call as the details are wrong on the system they have my Name and Surname and my sureties date of birth which results in a complete never-ending story.

All I want is to get this sorted out and move on with my life and not have this debt looming over me I just want FNB to get their act together so this matter can be resolved, I hope this review will create the fire needed to get them to respond. Looking forward in anticipation to a response to my grievances.
