FNB LIFE DID RECORD MY CANCER STATUS EVEN THOUGH I REPORTED IT
I was approved for a home loan with FNB. I was contacted by one of their agents regarding life insurance on the bond I received from them. From the beginning, I informed the representative that I had been diagnosed with Stage 4 Thyroid cancer. I knew from experience with other companies that provided life insurance that this could be a problem. I was prepared to pay a higher premium based on my risk profile. The representative immediately informed me that this will not be a problem. She continued with the health questionnaire, and I reminded her several times that I have stage 4 thyroid cancer.
About a month ago, I read through the life insurance documents. I saw that the part of the health questionnaire that asked whether I have ever been diagnosed with a tumor or cancer indicated a "NO" answer. This immediately caused a red flag for me. I knew that, should I ever die as a result of my cancer, my mortgage would not be covered by the life insurance.
I contacted FNB in writing on the 18th of August. I received an automatic response indicating that they will escalate the matter to the Underwriters. When I heard nothing back from them, I followed up on my quarry telephonically. I was informed that someone would phone me back. I did receive a phone call but after I explained the situation, the person informed me that she would call me back. She never did.
I again contacted FNB telephonically and was informed by the employee that I spoke to that she will escalate this to her supervisor and that I will receive a call back from them. I never received the call.
I received an automatic reply indicating that someone will contact me within 24 hours. No one did.
I am very disappointed with FNB. When I spoke to the representative initially, she did inform me that my call was recorded. All I am asking from FNB is to go back to the call to confirm that I did declare my cancer and to adjust my policy document accordingly.
