FNB LIFE- CRIPPLING BUSINESS OWNERS- NO AID FOR THE SELF EMPLOYED

I would like to express my utter disgust, disappointment and complete shock in the outcome of this matter.

I stand in disbelief to see that FNB deliberately goes out of its way to cripple entrepreneurship, smothering the drive to be self employed!

I am a strong, independent woman who started, owned and managed a company in the education industry for 3 years, providing an income for 5 families and empowering thousands of South African's with job opportunities through the courses my company provided.

I never anticipated or planned for the extremely sudden flood wave we experienced in the past two months. The wrath of the economic impact of Covid took its toll on us in the blink of an eye. Yet, after exhausting every resource to sustain my debt responsibilities, my final plea for assistance, assistance the credit insurance is supposed to provide, was declined for the sole reason of being 'self employed'. I worked as an employee receiving a payslip every month, paid taxes and UIF and I was retrenched like every other employee of the company, yet I do not qualify for any aid or assistance because of the mere fact that the business is registered in my name. I never imagined a situation where being 'self employed' would exclude me from receiving aid/assistance or for it to be the reason for **************. How I am different from any other employed person who qualifies for the financial insurance cover.

Never have I ever heard of such an absurd excuse to reject a claim- a claim for payment assistance for a period of 6 months.

Please note that I do not wish to receive a response on this letter as I know that FNB covered themselves in a single sentence in a T's & C's contract which gives them the right to turn a blind eye, go against everything their statement below stands for and excludes them from any humility and liability.
