FNB Law on Call Review
I took out a policy with FNB Law on Call on the 4th August 2020. So here is a breakdown of my experience.
The sales member was very freindly and professional, but due to a certain T&C, they were very uneducated. The T&C in question is that all matters occuring before the date the policy is active FNB Law on Call do not cover but do offer legal advice over the phone. I asked about this to the sales lady as I was about to get involved in a legal case, but there was no legal action taken as of yet, and her reponse was she believes it is a 50/50 situation. Perhaps I will get assistance or not.
When I finally contacted FNB Law on Call the next day the lawyer informed me that according to the T&C they can only offer legal advice but not get involved at all. This was fine for me and therefore I went ahead and started explaining my situation.
After about 10 minutes the FNB Law on Call lawyer informed me that I was completely in the wrong and that I must prepare myself for a legal battle or concede to the opposition. Our conversation turned into an argument and I started noticing the lawyer contradicting himself a few times and I called him out on these contradictions. His responses gave me the hint of complete inexperience. I was very disappointed.
A few minutes after this call I called a local lawyer that someone recommended. I explained my situation and within 5 minutes this lawyer requested all documentation concerning this matter, which I gladly sent. A day later this lawyer contacted me, telling me that he drafted a legal letter for the opposition. He also informed me that since the opposition signed off on the documentation from their side, they had no legal case they could enforce on me. I ended paying almost R1000 for this, yet I was helped almost instantly.
My question to FNB Law on Call: "What are you guys doing?"
In conclusion I am only keeping this policy for future matters that might arise and I will claim only on this policy when they can guarantee a local lawyer can assist me. If they cannot then I will be looking for another policy.
