FNB is worse than Telkom

I've been banking with FNB for close to 10 years now but this relationship must come to an end.

As a foreigner, dealing with FNB has always been a bit of a problem, but it has never been as bad as it is now.

After working in this country with a Temporary Work Visa for roughly a year, I app**** for a credit card and was a bit surprised that FNB gave me one. My salary back then wasn't that good. Fast forward 9 years, I have a much better salary and I am also a Permanent Resident in this country. One would assume that dealing with FNB should be easier now. WRONG!

All I asked for was to increase my credit card limit. What FNB did, or actually didn't do, can be read here: https://www.hellopeter.com/first-national-bank/reviews/no-response-confused-employees- **********

So after responding to them on HelloPeter yesterday (14/7/2018), I suddenly received an email this morning, asking me to submit more documents!!!!

First of all, applications only seem to be looked at when one complains on social media or elsewhere. Only then things seem to happen. Secondly, this is the third time now I've been asked to submit documents.

HOW DIFFICULT CAN IT BE TO ASK ME FOR ALL DOCUMENTS THE FIRST TIME???????

It seems that NO ONE, and I mean absolutely NO ONE does their job at FNB. I've received speedier replies and services from Telkom!

I spent an hour at your branch in Gardens, Cape Town this morning because not even your employees there could make sense of that email you sent me. Please tell everyone what a "Exchange control" is. Because I didn't know, and neither did your employees. Sibonise handled it pretty well but even he was on hold/on the phone with someone for over 45 minutes, trying to figure out what the hell is going on.

FNB, don't you dare reply to this post with one of your copy & paste apologies. Also, don't call me again, assuring me that my application will be processed now. I've had enough of your incompetence.

Today is Saturday, 14/7/2018, I'll give you until Wednesday, 18/7/2018. If I don't get an answer by then, I'll close my accounts and go to another bank.

You just sent me the EXACT SAME EMAIL asking for the exact same thing - Exchange Control. Are you seriously that dumb? It's like you want to get rid of me as a customer. Speak to Sibonise Mbalo at your branch in Gardens, Cape Town. He was on hold with your credit card department for almost an hour. That's how useless FNB is. He's got all the documents I can give you. SORT THIS OUT!!!
