Fnb *******ion
I write this letter not only as a warning but as a call for justice. My experience with First National Bank (FNB) has shown me just how damaging their practices can be to individuals, especially people of color, and I want the public to be aware of what can happen when a bank prioritizes profits over the wellbeing of its customers.
My Experience: ***** and Reckless Lending
My case involves reckless lending practices and ***** that have not only jeopardized my financial stability but have also led to ongoing emotional and physical distress. Despite the clear red flags on my profile that should have stopped FNB from extending loans, they continued to lend, worsening my debt situation. I was even offered a personal loan of R263,000 while I had hard "red flags" on my profile, which led to a spiral of debt and financial hardship. These actions go against the National Credit Act, yet FNB continues to avoid accountability.
Moreover, in a blatant attempt to cover their actions, FNB has tampered with my profile by removing evidence that could hold them accountable. They are willing to hide records and manipulate my account history to avoid the responsibility of their reckless lending.
*******ion and Negligence in the Private Client Suite
The Private Client Suite at FNB has shown itself to be not only useless but outright *******. This department, supposedly tasked with helping clients, has instead contributed to the ***** I’ve experienced, even going so far as to process applications without my consent and violating the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). Their negligence and lack of transparency have left me and many others vulnerable, unable to get real support when we need it the most.
Victims Are Coming Forward
I am not alone. Recently, two victims shared their experiences on TikTok, speaking out about unauthorized deductions from their accounts at FNB. Their stories add to the mounting evidence that FNB’s practices are not isolated incidents but rather part of a larger, harmful pattern. More people are finding the courage to speak up, and it’s becoming clearer that FNB’s negligence and greed are harming clients on a much broader scale.
The Case with the Ombudsman: Seeking Accountability
I have taken my case to the Ombudsman, where it’s currently under review. This process has shown me the lengths FNB will go to avoid taking responsibility. They have delayed responses and continue to present incomplete or altered records, prioritizing profit and public image over integrity and fairness.
FNB’s Pattern of Targeting People of Color
I believe FNB has deliberately targeted people of color with high-risk lending, knowing that these clients are more likely to need financial assistance and, unfortunately, less likely to be able to challenge them legally. This is not just my opinion; I have emails, documents, and recordings to prove the recklessness, deception, and ***** that have been a part of my experience with FNB. It is time that the public understands the potential risks of banking with this institution.
Why the Public Needs to Know
I urge anyone considering or currently banking with FNB to reevaluate your relationship with this institution. My goal in sharing this is to protect others from falling into the same trap I did. We should hold financial institutions accountable for their actions, ensuring they serve clients with integrity, not exploit them for profit.
