FNB Insurance – How long must an innocent third party wait to have their vehicle repaired?
FNB Insurance – How long must an innocent third party wait to have their vehicle repaired?
I am posting this complaint AGAIN because, despite repeatedly raising my concerns, I am still being ignored and my vehicle is STILL not repaired.
The accident happened in February 2026. My vehicle was stationary and unattended when it was hit by an FNB Insurance client. Their client accepted fault. Their vehicle was repaired in March 2026.
It is now September 2026 – seven months later – and my vehicle has STILL not been repaired.
I have done everything that was asked of me. All the required documentation was submitted on 16 February 2026. I was instructed to obtain three repair quotations, which I did, at my own expense. One of the repairers was even a preferred/recommended repairer, and that quotation was the CHEAPEST of the three.
Then, on 21 May, Neil Govender Attorneys presented me with a settlement offer that was R10,000 LESS than the cheapest quotation that I was specifically instructed to obtain.
I have asked a very simple question:
WHO IS SUPPOSED TO PAY THE R10,000 SHORTFALL?
Why should I, the innocent third party, have to pay R10,000 out of my own pocket when:
* My car was stationary when it was hit. * I was not even in the vehicle at the time. * The insured driver accepted fault. * I followed every instruction given to me. * I obtained the three quotations that were requested. * I even obtained a quotation from a repairer recommended/referred to me. * The cheapest quotation is still R10,000 more than the offer being made.
I was also told that the offer was based on an assessor’s report done from photographs. When I questioned this, I was asked to provide additional photographs for reconsideration.
We provided approximately 20 additional photographs.
And then… silence.
No proper response. No physical assessment. No resolution.
Whenever I complain, I am simply told that “Neil Govender Attorneys’ offer still stands.”
But that does NOT answer my question.
If your offer is R10,000 less than the cheapest repair quotation you instructed me to obtain, then please explain to me how my vehicle is supposed to be repaired without me personally paying the R10,000 difference.
Why are you not simply sending me to an approved repairer and authorising the repairs?
Why must an innocent third party carry the financial burden of an accident that was not their fault?
I have been patient for SEVEN MONTHS.
I have submitted documents. I have submitted quotations. I have submitted photographs. I have followed up repeatedly. I have complained repeatedly.
I even lodged another HelloPeter complaint recently and received an automated response saying that I would be contacted within five days.
Those five days passed.
Nobody contacted me.
At this point, I am asking FNB Insurance publicly:
WHO TAKES RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS CLAIM?
WHO IS GOING TO PAY THE R10,000 SHORTFALL?
WHEN WILL MY VEHICLE ACTUALLY BE REPAIRED?
And most importantly, why is an innocent third party being treated as though they are the problem when I have done everything required of me?
I do not want another automated response. I do not want to be told again that “the offer stands.”
I want someone at FNB Insurance to actually take ownership of this matter, review the entire claim, explain the R10,000 shortfall, and provide a concrete solution and date for my vehicle to be repaired.
February to September is completely unacceptable.
Please escalate this to someone who has the authority to resolve it.
