FNB insurance ****

On the morning of the 15th November 2023 my vehicle BMW 320i with insured with CIB with policy# CIB\C526917 through Fnb brokers could not start and I made a call to road assistance.

My vehicle was then subsequently towed to the nearest dealer which happened to be BMW Montana. Upon diagnosis BMW informed me that the problem was caused by Rodents eating electric wires in my vehicle which then prompted me to make a claim on my insurance for the repairs.

Upon submitting my claim on the 20th November 2023, the Fnb broker assigned to my case was Sultana Motau who informed me that the assessor would be appointed to go assess the damage and proceed with the repairs and the broker also requested that I send through the Quote that I received from BMW Montana for the said repairs. After the insurer receiving the Quote it was then that I was advised that my vehicle would be uplifted and send to the workshop in the insurer's panel.

I then requested that my vehicle must be repaired urgently as i use it for my daily commute and the Broker informed me that the claim was still within SLA and arranged a courtesy vehicle.

Ever since that time I am still without my vehicle. I thought I was paying insurance for peace of mind little did I know that I'd have to be send from pillar to post when the need arises for my insurance to assist me. I was under the impression that in no time my vehicle would be repaired and handed back to me as BMW Montana had informed me that the repairs would take a week maximum to complete, I then trusted that the insurer's preferred workshop would take around the same period to repair my vehicle but to my surprise when my vehicle was moved to their preferred workshop I'm yet to receive my vehicle. I was also shocked to hear that their assessor's final report was not sure what caused the damage and that my vehicle was sent to another mechanic which worries me even further that now when my vehicle returns there will be or might be bigger problems as it is now changing so many hands and this may lead to accountability and responsibility for the well being of my vehicle not being clear.

It seems that the insurer is trying to find ways not to approve my claim and thus not repair my vehicle. It was so convenient when the insurer was receiving my premiums on a monthly basis since delivery of my vehicle in April 2022, but now it seems a mere R10000.00 that BMW required was a mountain to climb as my excess was going to be R4000.00 in order to settle the total of R14000. 00 that BMW Montana had quoted.

As if this was not enough the insurer alleges that the rodents nested in my vehicle because it was stationery for a very long time, which is a lie as I commute with my vehicle on a daily basis and I have requested my tracking company to issue me with the trip report that will prove once again how much the insurer is trying by all means not to repair my vehicle. On Friday 2024-01-05 the insurer informed me that the courtesy car must also be returned as per their contractual agreement, which is adding salt to the wound because had they repaired my vehicle on time I would not need their courtesy car right now I would be using my vehicle.
