FNB - ***********, Indecisive and Misleading Loyal Customers

How useless can FNB be? The most *********** staff ever. I have been a FNB customer for over 18 years and over time there have been a few issues which were resolved amicably but this level of service takes incompetence to another level. On 22 July 2025, I received an email from FNB alerting me of the updated credit card terms and conditions. I was particularly interested in clause 30 which reintroduced AA Roadside assistance which was automatically included on qualifying linked and / or Standalone FNB Petro Card (where applicable). This service was discontinued by FNB in October 2022 and I was excited to see it reintroduced. Ever since 22 July 2025 I have spoken over 20 people from FNB to have a petro card linked to my existing credit card as it was previously. A few promised to create the card and link it to my credit card and deliver to my nearest branch. Others told me that there is no such facility any longer although according to the terms and conditions i do the "qualifying" credit card. Others told me that if i wanted the benefit of AA Roadside Assistance then i must apply for the stand alone petro card. That application is not on the FNB app so i must do it via online banking. I apply via online banking only for the application to be differed and i must call into the call center to be assisted further. I call in and am told that the credit card division no longer is able to process petro cards and only my private banker can add this card to my profile. After a conversation with my private banker on 26 August 2025, I was told that FNB doesn't do stand alone petro cards anymore. It's over a month and i have no definitive answer from FNB as i am still awaiting my private banker to investigate further. A premium monthly service fee is paid to be a private client however the service received falls far short especially when you receive conflicting advice every time you speak to some one new. FNB get your act together.
