FNB, How can you help yourself?

I went to FNB Northgate to query why I received two gold credit cards both dated for expiry in 2018 as I needed to use my credit card this weekend.

The cards were not working so I went to the branch to find out which card to use.

At the branch a very nice gentleman assisted me but when he called the FNB call centre, a lady named Naledi answered the phone and told him the following:

1. The two gold cards were sent to me in error

2. I was supposed to receive a Platinum card

3. When FNB called me I didn't answer my phone so they never sent me my card.

I asked her how many times did they call me. She said "a couple of times".

I told her, "a couple" is two, so FNB called me twice and decided that it was two times too many, so they destroyed my card and never called again.

Then her team leader Kevin Sinclair came on the line and proceeded to tell me that "the customer should be pro-active in finding out where their card is". He also said that their protocol was to call three times and then destroy the card.

How can I be pro-active about a card I didn't know about?

Secondly, was I not being pro-active in GOING INTO A BRANCH AND ENQUIRING ABOUT WHY I RECEIVED TWO GOLD CARDS IN ERROR when apparently I'm supposed to have received a Platinum card that I was never contacted about!!!!!!!

Then they refused to waiver the urgent delivery fee because I had to now RE-ORDER a platinum card but can't get it urgently because I don't want to pay the fee and because their protocol is 5-7 working days. A simple waiver like this could have saved an account.

To add insult to injury, the consultant sitting next to Naledi was telling her "ja, the consultants at the branch tell the client whatever they want to hear because they are face to face with them"

I proceeded to tell Naledi that I could hear her colleagues comments over the line.

Thanks to Naledi and Kevin Sinclair, I will be removing my personal account from FNB within the month to another bank.

If the manager of the call centre at FNB would like to QA this call (which I strongly suggest happen) the details are as follows:

Date: 15 Feb 2017

Time: around 11am

Consultant name: Naledi Moatlangi

Team leader name: Kevin Sinclair

They were called from the Northgate FNB Branch and spoken to by a gentlemen named Elias Letlakane.

FNB How can we help you? Yeah right... More like How can you help yourself? Because apparently I'm supposed to be pro-active in finding out about something I never knew existed.

Hi Daffnie,

I received two calls again from FNB staff from this number + ********** 7500.

Both staff members on two different days asked where I would like my card delivered.

On both occasions I said I would like it delivered to the branch in Northgate.

The second call I received took a whole 10 minutes for the consultant to repeatedly ask me in what area the Northgate branch was in.

Then proceeded to tell me that it could be delivered to my home address after I said I wanted it to go to the branch because he had already given me the option of home delivery.

He then said my card would be delivered to the branch between 5 & 6 in the afternoon on Saturday and that I could collect it tomorrow

I said, that banks normally close at 4pm, and if it gets delivered at 6pm to a branch then I would only be able to collect on Monday????

He then said, oh yes Ma'am, you will have to collect it on Monday.

I am seriously starting to question service levels at FNB Head Office.

The call I received today was at 11:45am today.
