FNB… ''How can we RUIN your life?''

I was essentially forced into taking voluntary retrenchment over a year ago, so was unable to claim from the credit insurance I pay to FNB each month. Not that it would have helped much, as I’ve been unemployed ever since. I have searched high and low and cannot find a job that pays even close to the amount I previously earned. I’ve been freelancing and have managed to make enough to survive, and pay whatever I can towards my debts. What I pay towards my debt to FNB doesn’t even cover the interest, which means at this rate, I will finish paying FNB in June 2050, and they would make a further R90 370.98 interest from me.

They are quick to dish out pre-approved loans right, left and centre (without even carrying out a thorough affordability check), but when their client’s get thrown an unexpected curve ball, they do NOTHING to try assist. I have tried every avenue in attempt to get my debt restructured, but asking FNB for help if like smashing your head against a concrete wall. I’ve been humiliated, threatened and reduced to tears by their collections staff... one lady even told me that I cannot expect the bank to help me... ''FNB is a business, not a charity organisation''. Rather than assist their clients in getting their lives back on track, all they care about it making money. I mean, I’m not asking for my debt to be written off, but a simple loan restructure will be a massive help.

FNB is the most disgusting banking organisation and do not give a damn about their clients. Joining FNB was the biggest mistake of my life!!
