FNB How CAN WE NOT HELP YOU
I have been a client of FNb since 2014 and never have Benn so dissapointed and disgusted with their service.
I was retrenched bin Sep due to the company I worked for not being able to make a income because of Covid 19restrictions. I so took my severance and paid up my credit card and sought help from FNB regarding my remaining overdraft. I was eventually helped by a girl who sent me and email with a list of documents I need to send the the FNBlife email address. I sent my I'd, U19 and letter form employer and today followed up on my claim since no one phoned back with any info or outcome. I soon came to learn that my claim was denied because I am not covered for retrenchment on my credit card, when I said this is for my overdraft I was told it shows no record of me having an overdraft??? What the hell FNB?? Then I was transfered back and forth between debt protection, claims even policies with no one knowing what is going on or why I was transfered there. Not to mention the times I was cut off and had to go through the entire automated answering thing just to be transferred again. Eventually I was given a 011 number to find out what my overdraft policy number is. They guy then told me I have o insurance on my overdraft, so I said that it is mandatory to have on any credit facility and this is a embedded cost in your facilities fee as far as I know. He said I do t have and he doesn't know what rule I am talking about. Very disappointed and irritated it being almost 2hours to get this sorted I dis some research:
1. In terms of the National Credit Act (NCA), credit life cover is mandatory, and therefore a credit provider can insist that you have a credit life insurance policy for the duration of a credit agreement. 2. This is insurance that a consumer purchases when applying for credit or loan. It covers the outstanding debt in the event of unforeseen circumstances such as death, retrenchment, unemployment, inability to earn an income, disability and others.
In the event of the consumer becoming unemployed or unable to earn an income, the credit life insurance cover provides that credit providers must settle/pay the consumer’s debt for a period of 12 months or for the remaining repayment period or until the consumer finds employment or is able to earn an income, whichever period is shorter.
3.“If a customer is permanently employed and they become unemployed or are unable to earn an income due to contracting Covid-19 or due to measures put in place to prevent the spread of the virus, all their obligations under the Credit Agreement that become due and payable can be paid either for 12 months during the remaining repayment period of the Credit Agreement, or until they are able to find employment or earn an income whichever is the shorter period,” FNB said.
And then lastly I app**** for my overdraft Dec 2017, this is after the updated NCR Act that re emphasized the cover that life insurance provides include that of unemployment or retrenchment.
So if someone from FNB can please phone me and let me know what the hell is going on and why I do not have insurance as clearly stated above was mandatory at the time of the agreement when I didn't provided any evidence of an alternative insurance that would be great.
I am seriously looking at getting a loan of some sort, paying the outstanding amount and closing All my accounts with FNB because clearly they have no interest in helping you when you have been dealt a bad hand.
Firstly I am not Mr Stranex. This is a a really bad start. Secondly it has been 8 working days since I posted this and NO ONE has phoned to update OR talk to me.
Please can someone update me on the situation, cause come the 30th I won't have money for you to take to pay my overdraft as UIF is still delayed.
Thanks
