FNB- How can we mislead you

I app**** for a 1st zero account online and was called by a consultant to complete the process. Due to type of registration I was unable to get this account. She then proceeded to sell me the Gold account. I was on my way to the bank anyway when I received this call, I informed her of that and she told me that it would cost me R500 to open it at the branch. My exact question to her was ‘as opposed to what?’ She said if I do with her telephonically it would be ‘free’. So I proceeded to open the account. What she failed to inform me about was that I needed to pay R100 to activate the account and R200 for delivery of the card. I dont mind the costs so much because I still get to pop out R200 less than at the branch but what irks me is the misleading and deliberate deception. Imagine my surprise as I open the app to discover that I actually have to pay to get this card. So in actually fact, its free when you open it at the branch because even though you pay R500, that money goes into your account. Whereas with the option she mislead me to take I pay R300 but only have R100 in my account. On principle, once I open an account with another bank I will be closing this one because I feel I was mislead and **** to in order to make the sale. Im disgusted that you train your consultants to be deceptive or you put so much pressure on your employees to meet targets that they have to mislead people.
