FNB - How can we kick you when you are down

After being a client of FNB for the last eighteen years I would never thought the service and level of being concerned would be so vulger to say the least.

Last year I had a third child and were extremely sick during and after the pregnancy so I resigned to give me time to get stronger, finish my Bcom degree and to get a job again. I am a single mother of three very young children and I pay all my own bills.

As soon as I have received my pension money I reduced it from R22000 to R5300, which I would have settled as soon as I found another job. When I only had R5300 available in my savings account I received a call telling me they are taking my money to settle the overdraft. I begged and pleaded not to take my money and I were told I need to make arrangements to pay it off then. I did tell them about my circumstances but according to FNB I am not allowed to have an overdraft if I am unemployed. Well where must I get money to pay that back now if I don't have any money but forcefully they take R500 which I had to agree to every month. I even had a fight with them previously and they were just willing to move it to another date. The more I told the lady I can't repay it as I am unemployed and would as soon as I found a job again the more she told me I am not allowed to have an overdraft and need to pay it back. Look like there is serious issues with the employees of FNB, because if people doesn’t have money how must they pay something back?

Secondly when I made a loan with FNB I was told that in the event of unemployment I can put a hold on the loan for six months. When I phoned them regarding this I was told I resigned and can pay a lesser amount or the full amount would go off my account but they can't put a hold on my loan account until I find employment again. Again if I do not have money how must I pay anything.

This is pathetic service. I am highly disgusted and will take all of my business away from FNB as soon as I find other employment. Never in my life have I come across this type of forcing behaviour and not understanding.

I will escalate this to the compensation commisionner as well.
