FNB - How can we help you, to help ourselves and make some extra money from it

After FNB made headlines for their positive action taken to help out their clients during the covid19 pandemic, I was one of the excited ones and proud to be an FNB client.

Then came an unauthorized debit order on my account which I tried to dispute and stop from the app, as I have always been allowed to do, only to find that I am unable to do this any more. I made contact with "My team of bankers" and they told me I had to apply for Covid19 relief, even though I did not need it, or requested for it.

So I eventually followed the instructions to see where I get, and I thought I might as well apply for the relief given the uncer*****y ahead. FNB approved the relief, which came in the form of a personal loan at the prime lending rate, and which ONLY included FNB products, which I had minimal of (approximately R780 per month), the loan amount equated to approximately R4300 per month and I have no say in how that money should be used. No one at FNB can explain to me why this difference between what I need vs what I qualified for.

I sang FNB's praises for many years, but it seems like the moment you really need service from them, they fall flat and their mediocrity comes forth, and you are on your own. FNB's self interest in helping you, to help them keep their services going and making more money from it has disappointing me as a loyal client and I would definitely look into switching bank shortly. The problem is by looking at the Hello Peter reviews, which one of the other useless, self interested service providers do you choose.

Either you are unable to assist, or unwilling to. The resolution agents made contact with me, and promised me a write up of the agreement in 2 business days, it is now 3 weeks later and still no feedback. Meanwhile, the same unauthorised debit order has been deducted and it seems like it is in your interest that this keeps happening to get your clients more indebted as this also has no resolution a month later.
