Terrible experience with FNB insurance they have stigmatized and traumatized me for something beyond my control. I answered questions honestly was asked if I'm on treatment for any conditions I answered yes I'm on treatment for anxiety started end of 2020 due to covid which has occurred with many people during this trying time. I am also a health care provider we lossed many colleagues and relatives during this time socially isolated as we maintained distance from our loved ones for fear of accidently infecting our loved ones working chronically shortstaffed while most others at home isolating. I realized that I was being burnt out and got myself help. Went for counseling and started medication I'm fine now with no issues. Accept that I now have to be stigmatized and insulted by fnb consultants claiming about high suicide risk when I have never in my life wanted or tried to do anything of the such. I'm in the process of purchasing a house (which was approved by fnb I'm mentally sound to take on a bond) why would I be wanting to now commit suicide. Working as a nurse during covid was like going every day in to a volitile hostage situation never knowing if today's the day I get covid if ill be leaving my kids my husband my family or be responsible for infecting one of them going through so much emotional turmoil at the time. the fear the abuse from people that we had to undergo daily. The shortage of ppe we had to treat and manage people coming in with covid that's like staring down the barrel of a gun. Now after going through all that admitting that I needed to get some form of support during that time FNB decides to penalize me by increasing my insurance premiums. This kind of treatment towards people diagnosed with mental conditions is the very reason why people don't disclose due to stigma. Just because a person has anxiety does not mean that they are going to kill themselves. Fnb needs to educate themselves when it comes to these types of conditions. This needs to be sorted out this would even result in people defaulting their medication for fear of this kind of stigma. I'm so surprised if I look at my finances they are well managed but now I'm mentally unstable when comes to the price of my premiums. Premiums must be increased.
