FNB Housing Finance- what a joke!!!

We app**** for a switch of our housing finance from FNB to Absa in July 2017. All approvals were completed and we signed the necessary documentation with the registering attorneys who advised the process, etc. The attorneys kept us up to date weekly with the progress of the registration. At the point of signing we received the cancellation figures from FNB that are valid until 25 October 2017 which was sufficient to cover the outstanding bond and all transfer fees included. A week before registration we received an e-mail from the attorneys confirming that the bond was due for registration 15.09.17 and that it was lodged at the deeds office 01.09.17. On 13.09.17 (2 days before registration) we received a call from the attorney that the funds were now insufficient to settle the FNB bond and that we needed to pay R5000 into the bond account and send proof of payment so that the bond can be registered. We were confused because where does the shortfall come from?? A day later, R10,000 was the new request to pay into the account. We then enquired what the reason was for the shortfall and FNB's attorneys had requested amended figures on 12.09.17 from FNB. Now my question is, why was amended figures requested when the bond was already lodged and why all of a sudden we are responsible for phoning around to find out what the problem was. I then contacted Julia Fadana (the lady at FNB that provided the original cancellation figures) to try to understand what the hold up was with the registration and why new figures were requested. She then advised that she did provide the proceed for the bond to be lodged on 01.09.17 and that she would call me back as she finds out what the problem was_ she was as confused as I was. Julia called me back within a few minutes explaining that with the debit order that would take place this month all would be in order for registration to take place. What I cannot understand is that the original figures were in order and that they are valid until late October. Why do I need to cough out money to register our bond? ?? no one can also provide clarity on why the figures were amended 2 days before registration? ? Why is FNB trying to milk us out of money? ? Is it their way of trying to be nasty because we are moving our bond? ? Why can't anyone provide a decent answer about why figures were suddenly amended. Besides all of this, the matter had been escalated to Trientjie Swart from Julia (who basically responded to my query with a bunch of useless calculations)that advised that the new figures were given and will need to be settled by 20.09.17 or else further interest would be added to the account and that they cannot be contacted as their attorneys protect their interest and all queries should be directed to Van Rensburg ING. No one is taking responsibility for the obvious mess that was created. This is such pathetic service and I feel sorry for the thousands of clients going through what we are going through for fear of speaking up. FNB should be ashamed of the financial difficulty they inflict on their customers and yet they are all about "how can we help you" ....
