FNB HONORS UNVERIFIABLE PERSON'S FALSE CLAIM OVER ITS BUSINESS CLIENT

On 23 June 2018; after making several calls and branch visits, I was disgusted by FNB's unprofessional service delivery and impossible resolution plan. During the morning of 23 June 2018, my FNB business cheque account worked fine as I was able to transact. During the course of the afternoon on the same day I got an emergency call from my mother, asking me to assist her with buying a few grocery items just till she gets her salary. When trying to swipe for the little that I had promised to get for her being (2xbread loafs, 2x1lt milk, 2xprotex soap, 2xlucky star pilchards, 2xcorned beef and R100 electricity), my card sadly declined but showed me a positive balance when i checked online. After several attempts of trying different swiping machines, I left the shop with embarrassment and frustrations of my card possibly being cancelled or de*****ed by someone.

I contacted FNB and they said that a lady by the name of 'Lerato Kganyago' called them during the day and asked them to please freeze my account because she realized that she made a referencing mistake on a R1000 deposit she made to my account. Now the call consultant said the way to resolve this is if I contact that lerato and ask her to make an Affidavit stating that the issue between us two was resolved and submit it together with mine stating the same.

The problems i'm facing are as follows: 1. After searching thoroughly and asking all my suppliers/clients, no one by the name Lerato Kganyago was found. 2. When I asked the consultant for Lerato's contact details/Proof of her deposit/The wrong reference that she or he claimed was used; I was told that those details weren't provided. 3. When I explained my issue to a different call center consultant and requested a reversal to rather be made, I was told it wasn't possible because the account was on hold.

The reason and method used to put my fnb business account on hold was informal, reckless, ******** and prejudice because FNB clearly gave a random person the power to place a hold to a business cheque account by just calling and claiming a transaction that wasn't even verified. Worse part, FNB didn't see the importance of asking for their contact details; instead, FNB chose to honor a false claim coming from a non-existing/unidentifiable person's mere phone call over it's existing FNB Business Client's request to allow access to existing business funds?
