FNB home loans is useless - save your time and don't bother with them.

DO NOT bother with FNB building loans. Unfortunately, as much as I like my ebucks, I have no choice but to deal with FNB for this because they already have my home loan. If you have a choice, don't.

I started applying for a further building loan in April this year. It finally went through the deeds office 2 weeks ago now. I sent through the first payment request on sunday evening. It was only processed yesterday. I now need to wait 3 days for a "valuator" to contact me to schedule an appointment. I'm sure that will be the end of next week sometime. FNB advertises that it takes 24h to get money. It's 10 times that.

At EVERY step of the way this has been a nightmare. I send through documentation, 2 weeks later FNB realises they forgot to ask for something else. I send that through. 2 weeks later they realise they need another thing. Then we go to sign, FNB send through the wrong contract: reschedule 2 weeks later. Then the contract has changed without telling us. Then we need to ask builder for more documentation. 2 weeks later FNB is "happy". 1 week later go to sign deeds. 2 weeks later ask for money. 1 week later "sorry we need something else". 1 week later "what's happening?". 2 days later, "oh we won't pay until we send a valuator". 1 week later "where is the valuator", FNB says that takes 3 days for them to call me to schedule. and now we wait. for the next 11 payments how long will this take? probably longer than the project itself.

WHY does this process take so many months when you said it will take one month? WHY does FNB roadblock me at every step of the way with another request for something else? I started my building project months ago because FNB told me it doesn't take that long. Where do they expect me to find money to pay my builder?

I am stuck with FNB now and a half finished building project and an "escalated" request in limbo somewhere in the beurocracy because there are so many middle men. I am a private client for decades, not some random time waster.
