FNB Home Loan ) Excessively High Interest Charges

To the FNB Homeloans Department and Fellow Consumers,

I am writing this post to express my deep concern and frustration regarding the interest charges on my FNB home loan. I hope that by sharing my experience, I can either get a satisfactory explanation from FNB or find others who have encountered similar issues.

Here's my situation:

1. My home loan current amount is approximately R80,000. 2. I am being charged a monthly interest of R720.36.

To put this into perspective, the interest I'm paying monthly is nearly 1% of my total loan amount. This seems excessively high, especially considering current market rates for home loans in South Africa.

My attempts to get a clear explanation from FNB have been unsuccessful, leaving me with several unanswered questions:

1. How is this interest rate calculated? 2. Is this rate in line with FNB's advertised rates for similar loan amounts? 3. Are there hidden fees or charges inflating this interest amount? 4. What options do I have to reduce this monthly interest charge?
